Welcome New Limestones!
Wednesday, April 18, 2007 - Auditions for next
year's group are all wrapped up! It was by no
means an easy decision for us to make. As was
revealed over the last few weeks, this callback was
full of amazing talent and excellent character. We
invite all those who didn't make it to try out again
in the future.
Unfortunately, we could only choose 3 guys.
Without beating around the bush anymore, here are
the new Limestones:
- Jake Uban
- Charlie Stuckey
- Kris Johnson
Congratulations to everyone for putting forth
your best efforts, it was truly an honor to audition
you all!

Building lobby. All voice parts are welcome, we hope
to see plenty of smiling faces!

The Limestones made it to Wikipedia! Check out part of the excerpt: "One of
the most popular ensembles at St. Olaf is a men's
acapella group known as the Limestones. This
seven-voice student-run group is very popular on
campus, especially with the first-year female
students..."

Today marks the first day of a
huge initiative we're undertaking here at the
website: the Limestones Timeline Project.
Over the next few weeks and months, the Limestones
and fans alike will be cooperating together to make
the most complete list ever of all the Limestones
guys, albums, reviews, and everything else you could
possibly imagine!
The Project is scheduled to be completed
by end of year, 2006. Here's a slim breakdown
of what you can expect to see developing during the
next few months on the website:
- Limestones - Even more information
about your favorite guys, all the way back to
when it all began in 1989! From their
years in the group to albums they recorded to
where they are now, this will be the main focus
of the Project.
- Albums & DVDs- Having released almost
a dozen products over the years, there's quite a
bit of information in this category! And yet,
it's nowhere to be found... but no longer!
Being the main venue in which fans enjoy their
Limestones (other than live concerts), it seemed
only appropriate that this be a highly developed
area.
- Previews & reviews - Straight from
the people who know us best: you! Looking
to attend a live concert, but don't know which
venue is best suited for your needs? Heard
that latest Limestones album blew away the
competition? More in-depth material for the fans
is the focus of this category.
- Everything else - Fairly
self-explanatory, eh?
Of course, there will be many other things
developed with less focus and we invite you to tell
us what you think! If you have any comments,
questions, or suggestions for the Limestones
Timeline Project,
let us hear
it!
We're thrilled you stopped to check us out! The page
has undergone a few changes recently, so even if you're
a seasoned visitor please take some time to look around.
New to TheLimestones.com? Here's a quick rundown:

enough gossip, visit the Limestones blog!

Limestones! From their favorite 80s cartoons to Michael
Jackson to shout-outs to mom and pop, this is the place
to go to get all the dirty details!
Recordings - The perfect place to support
our group by purchasing any number of recordings!
Repertoire - Go to a Limestones concert
last week and have those sweet, sweet lyrics stuck in
your head but just can't figure out where they came
from? Our complete set list should remedy that.
Concert Dates - We're constantly
updating our concert schedule, so make sure to check
back frequently because, hey! We might just be in

Check us out!
This year's spring concert will be Monday, May 15, at
5:00. The concert this spring will be outside,
on the Buntrock Plaza (between Buntrock Commons and
the Science Center). Rain site is the Pause, which
we hopefully won't have to use. It's the day before
reading day, so we're hoping to see a lot of our friends
and supporters there. This will be the last concert
ever for Eric, Mark, Skip and Phil; come out and help
us make it a memorable one!!!
We just finished our last off-campus concert of the
year, at Benilde-St. Margaret's High School in Minnetonka
(Jake's High School). Fantastic crowd!!
The energy was tremendous, and I get chills thinking
about how it would have been had the auditorium been
filled to capacity. Thanks for making it a special
one, Benilde!
In the past month, we've also sung in Jeremy's and Drew's
hometowns, Worthington, MN and Appleton, WI, respectively.
Both of those concerts were also a blast, and we are
so grateful for the hospitality of their families.
The food was wonderful, as were the accommodations,
and both weekends were great experiences.
Three weeks ago was our performance at the Ted Mann
Theatre on the University of Minnesota campus, opening
for the Apollo Men's Chorus. It was a lot of fun
to hear Apollo doing their thing; we aren't exposed
to that type of choral music as often, and it's a great
change of pace from our more upbeat a cappella.
When we saw that they were singing "Prayer of the Children"........
We have finished our auditions and callbacks for next
year, and we have our 2006-2007 Limestones!! The
new members are Tyler Hayes (vocal percussion), Elwyn
Fraser (baritone), Paul Olson (tenor) and Andy Shetka
(tenor). The group is bringing in four extremely
talented guys, and next year should be a great one to
build on what we have accomplished this year.
Thanks to everybody who auditioned; we heard great things
from everybody, and unfortunately we had to turn down
some very skilled singers, but hopefully everybody will
audition again next year.
Happy New Year! I suppose a brief update is in
order. The Limestones have finished recording
their latest album, the title of which has yet to be
released yet, just like the CD itself. We recorded
the music in just over 100 hours during the eight days
of interim break, in The Terrarium, a fantastic studio
up in Minneapolis. A big thanks to Luke for helping
us out with the recording. It really went smoothly
overall, considering we had to do the whole thing without
Skip, who was on tour with the St. Olaf Choir and recorded
his VP tracks in two days after returning. But
now everything's being mixed and mastered, after which
we'll get it all put together and make plans to release
the album. Excitement builds.....
The website has undergone one of the biggest overhauls
in its history, with the addition of a completely new
page, this one aptly titled "Pictures." You can
find the link on the top left and the bottom of every
page now, and it has links to several other pages containing
pictures of the group from the past two years.
This page can be added onto over time, creating a visual
archive of sorts for the Limestones. However,
we have no professional photographers in our group,
and we don't have a cameraman following the group around
to every concert, so our pictures tend to be few and
far between. This means we're always looking for
new photos to put on the website, so if you have some
images you think could be put on the website, send them
our way and we'll see what we can do.
